GeoPython 2021

Qiusheng Wu

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My research interests include Geographic Information Science (GIS), remote sensing, and environmental modeling. More specifically, I am interested in applying geospatial big data, machine learning, and cloud computing (e.g., Google Earth Engine) to study environmental change, especially surface water and wetland inundation dynamics. I am a strong advocate of open science and reproducible research. I have developed and published various open-source packages for advanced geospatial analysis, such as geemap, lidar, whitebox-python, and whiteboxR. More information about my research and teaching can be found on my personal website and research blog.

Interactive mapping and analysis of geospatial big data using geemap and Google Earth Engine

This workshop introduces the geemap Python package and how it can be used for interactive mapping and analysis of large-scale geospatial datasets with Earth Engine in a Jupyter-based environment. We will also demonstrate how to produce publication-quality maps and build interactive web apps.
