»Messaging with Satellites from Anywhere on the Planet«
2019-06-25, 16:30–17:00, Room 1

Wherever you are on the planet, you can look up to the sky and be sure that an Iridium satellite is looking back at you. This talk will show you how to use relatively cheap hardware to make your projects speak, and be spoken to, from anywhere on Earth.

The RockBLOCK 9603 is a small device that costs roughly the same as a budget smartphone to purchase and operate.

This talk will show you how to send and receive messages from a RockBLOCK with Python, and also how to integrate these messages into a server side application.

We'll take a look at how accurate GPS data can be integrated into a RockBLOCK project, and finish with some real world examples of this technology in action.
